We can divide the natural shades of wool into whites, browns and greys.

 White sheep
The wool we call white usually has an ecru or creamy colour.
One 'white' sheep's colour can be a much yellowier shade than the other.
A warm, natural shade of white is obtained when it is hand-spun.

There is often quite a wide variation in shades in brown sheep. Sometimes the wool is a very deep brown, but it can also be several shades lighter or mixed with grey.

A special breed is the so-called Blue Texeler

These scheep have wonderful silvery grey fleece, with very light shades interspersed with a darker grey or greyish brown. This gives a very lively hue when it is spun.
